Editor`s review: ZebraNet Utilities
ZebraNet Utilities aids in managing network print servers by immediately alerting you to potential problems. ZebraNet Utilities needs to be continuously running in the background or foreground on a networked workstation to receive events from the servers.
ZebraNet Utilities receives SNMP event packets sent out on the network from print servers. It can be configured to notify you of a new event by updating the system tray icon, bringing ZebraNet Alert to the foreground or playing a sound. Each print server that you want to receive events from must be configured to send SNMP events (using the ZebraNet View configuration SNMP Trap page) in the current protocol. The current protocol is configured on the preferences dialog.
When an event is received it is placed into the event cache. If the event passes the log filter, it is written to the current log file. If the event passes the view filter, it is displayed in the event window. The event cache is limited to 10,000 events.
A fully featured administration package, ZebraNet Utilities features:
* View - enables user-friendly automatic printer location. Search using parameters that include: IP address, subnet, printer model, printer status, and other user-defined characteristics.
* Alert - enables configuration of multiple event alerts per device and alert types delivered to individuals based on defined roles.
* Connect - enables Windows-based selection of IP-addressable printers.
* View Java Applet - enables powerful discovery features for Java platform users.
